Gaat de groei van de Nederlandse industrie al afvlakken? Deze vraag lijkt gerechtvaardigd na bijna 4 jaar onafgebroken toename van ordervolumes. Het antwoord luidt ontkennend. Neen, de groei van omzet en werkgelegenheid gaat onverminderd door getuige de NEVI Purchasing managers Index (PMI) over april. Deze kwam uit op hetzelfde hoge niveau als vorige maand: 57.8! (een waarde > 50 wijst op toename van de industriele bedrijvigheid; een waarde < 50 op afname). Ruim hoger dan het onderzoeksgemiddelde over de afgelopen 12 jaar. Het beeld is identiek aan de voorgaande maanden: ordervolumes zowel uit binnen- als buitenland namen verder toe (nieuwe order index: 57.5 en exportorderindex: 56.9), waardoor de bezettingsgraad van de industrie verder verbeterde. Hogere productievolumes leidden tot meer inkoop van grondstoffen, halffabrikaten en componenten, hetgeen de inkoopprijsinflatie verder aanwakkerde (68.3). Op vrijwel alle inkoopmarkten hebben inkopers nu te maken met prijsstijgingen die uiteraard doorberekend worden in de verkoopprijzen. Het aantal banen in de industrie nam verder toe (werkgelegenheid index april : 56.6). Hoe scoort de Nederlandse industrie ten opzichte van andere landen? Zonder meer goed: de Duitse PMI kwam uit op 58.2, die van de Eurozone op 56.8 en China rapporteerde 51.2. De wereldeconomie zit dus in de lift. Reden waarom het positieve sentiment nog wel even zal aanhouden. Reden waarom ik mijn rapportcijfer handhaaf op 8.0.
